Olivia Manning from Liverpool has scored 162 in an IQ test – which the average is 100. The 12-year old school girl has been accepted into Mensa. It is reported that her score is 2 points better than Albert Einstein and Stephen Hawking. Woohoo! She is brainier than Einstein.

What a genius!

Here’s the thing: Every parent dreams of having a genius like Olivia born into the family.

Not for me. I’d rather let things go the way it’s supposed to be.

Let me explain. [Read more…]

Story telling is fun and most importantly it’s the most effective way of teaching. Children attracted to stories like bees to honey.

Instead of using cold hard facts (Yawn, yawn. Most kids have a hard time digesting facts), try using a story to tell your child about a lesson or value in life.

For the record, this situation happens more than once. [Read more…]

As I grow older, I like to remove things from my life instead of accumulating them.

Cooking included.

I try to make it as simple as possible. To make me look good, I’ll call it simplicity cooking.

But in actual fact, I am just being plain lazy:

I just want to cook up a healthy meal in the shortest time possible.

Especially lunch on school days.

While I was trying to do so, I broke some of the pre-conceived notions. [Read more…]

Simple act, huge pleasure

If you pay attention, you’d have noticed I haven’t been writing lately.

If you suspect I am lazy, you’re partially right.

Another excuse I give myself is I don’t know what to write. A writer’s curse: running out of topics.

Another side of the story is we went to my hometown over the last weekend. I usually don’t have time to write when I am back home with my folks and brothers and in-laws. I rather spend time catching up and hunting for food.

Don’t get me wrong. I am NOT writing to tell you WHY I am not writing. [Read more…]
