Hong Kong Disneyland: the Land of Fantasy and the Future

November 16, 2010 By Abel Cheng

Breakfast before going to Disneyland

After two recommendations from locals, we headed to Tao Heung on Carnarvon Road for yet another dim sum breakfast. This time the dim sum was much better than what we had the day before and much cheaper. The bill came as $118.

It was about noon when we were done with the breakfast and prepared to go to Hong Kong Disneyland by MTR. [Read more…]

Interview with Leo Babauta on His Book: Focus

November 2, 2010 By Abel Cheng

Focus Book CoverIf you don’t know already, I love Leo Babauta’s work. His thoughts strike a chord in me because he likes simplicity in life – just like the way I do. I even listed one of his books as my children’s must-read book.

Leo’s Zen Habits blog was picked as the best blog for Time’s Best Blogs of 2010. And he has authored many books – mainly on self-development, productivity and minimalist lifestyle.

About 10 days ago, Leo has just launched his latest book . The book is called Focus – A simplicity manifesto in the Age of Distraction.

Interestingly, the book comes in two versions: free and premium. If you want you can grab a copy of the free ebook. Even the free version is already packed with useful tips that you can use instantly. As for paid version, besides the free ebook, it also includes how-to videos, audio interview with experts, and bonus chapters. [Read more…]

In life there are challenges we have to face. Parenting is one of them. Sometimes we are too bogged down by all things children and it causes other aspects of our life in limbo.

This is the exact situation faced by one of our readers. She is kind enough to let us reproduce her email here:

Recently my daughter got Rotavirus, since last Tues, now still in the recovering stage. The main point which I think I handle quite bad is whenever my kids sick, I am extremely sad, depress, nervous…. I understand that kid sick is normal & cannot be avoided, but yet I cannot take it easy & relax… When my kid sick, especially fever, I dare not sleep at night, I have no appetite to eat, not go to office, always thinking to send him/her to see doctor (see dr > 1 time), I am very impatient to wait if they still cannot recover after 2-3 days.

Due to my over worry, I will have bad emotional, quarrel with family members etc…

She is not alone. I bet most of us have gone through situations similar to this. We are nervous when our child is sick. We are worried when our child’s safety is threatened. This is normal. However, we must not let stress ruin our lives. We have to face it or at least reduce it. [Read more…]

Though we don’t bring our two young children to McDonald’s very often, sometimes we do stop by and have a meal there when we can’t stop the craving.

While we are there, we always get the hottest fries from the restaurant. Not only are they steaming hot, the fries are healthier too. [Read more…]

One day when I woke up, I had a thought like this: If I die tomorrow, what books do I want my children to read?

And these books will teach them everything they need to know about life when I am away.

I know it sounded funny but I bet you agree with me that this list is useful and important, especially when we are not around to show them the way. [Read more…]
