If you know me well, I put a lot of emphasis on relationships. Hence, whenever possible, I would create opportunities for J and K to spend time with family members and friends. Just for them to mingle, play, joke, or… you get what I mean.

In the most recent school holiday, we took J and K to visit my parents-in-law. I thought putting them together would be sufficient to achieve my noble objective. [Read more…]

Family Day Trip to Carey Island, Banting and Jenjarom

May 4, 2016 By Abel Cheng

It’s a long weekend and something had to be planned so the 3-day break would not be wasted.

That’s what my wife said.

So to make use of the Labor Day (May Day) holiday, we decided to visit the Mah Meri Cultural Village where the place is still sadly unknown even to locals. We also took the opportunity to go around Banting and Jenjarom.

Credit must be given where it’s due. The trip would not have been possible (especially food hunting) without the help from my good friend, Maya Kirana, who was raised in Banting. Though I have been to these two places but due to her insider tips that I dared myself to explore Banting and Jenjarom deeper and wider.

Let’s dive in and see what we had done during the road trip. [Read more…]

Family Trip to Tasmania

Tasmanian Trip

For 2015 year end holiday, we were in Sydney for about 25 days. Out of this, we spent 10 days in Tasmania. There were 7 all of us on the Tassie trip. We flew to Launceston from Sydney instead of Hobart due to its distance and price.

To move around on the island, we booked a car from Avis. For such a big group, we needed a car called people mover. We were given a Hyundai Imax.

For this road trip, our plan was to go around the island clockwise – starting and ending in Launceston.

We had pre-booked our accommodation before we went there – starting with Launceston, then Bicheno, Huonville (Hobart), Cradle Mountain and Penguin.

The best thing about Tasmania is the public toilets are free and so is the highway. We find out that the cleanliness of the island is top notch. The Tasmanian people are friendly and helpful.

Here’s the chronology of our trip: [Read more…]

Broga Hill Hiking: An Outdoor Activity with Family and Friends

July 27, 2015 By Abel Cheng

Broga Hill
During the recent Aidilfitri holidays, we made a plan to hike Broga Hill after a few unsuccessful attempts to make this outdoor adventure a reality.

We went with two other families – who have school-going children – and friends. One of them who has been there be the guide.

The hill is located near Semenyih town and it’s about 5 minutes’ drive from there. The entrance to the hill is before Broga town if you’re coming from Semenyih. [Read more…]

Why you should change the way you celebrate your child’s birthday

We are invited to her birthday party this Sunday. Domenique is celebrating her 11th birthday and we have been her guests for more than 5 years, I guess.

It seems her parents throw a party for her every year without fail.

And get this: While this sounds like a party for children, it is also one hell of an event for adults to have fun. Talking about killing two birds with one stone.

From the get go, I can tell that her parents treasure and enjoy the togetherness with family and friends, besides food, of course.

That is not what I want to tell you. There’s something else. [Read more…]
