When I wrote about my family doing the No New Gifts Holiday Challenge, I received a couple comments that I was a Grinch:
You must be a drag to live with. ‘What kind of deprivation and sacrifice has Daddy got for us today?’
and
I couldn’t agree more lol, I’m sure kids see him as the Grinch, i feel sorry for them. I doubt his kids would be like ‘Yes dad, don’t buy me the latest Call of Duty game, i don’t want the 1% to get richer.’

Since we are in Brisbane (as mentioned in Free Things to Do in Brisbane) for a month, we take the opportunity to have longer (and further) trips on weekends while my wife is not working.
On the second weekend we were here, we visited the Sunshine Coast of Australia – north of Brisbane. Sunshine Coast might not be as popular as its cousin Gold Coast but it has its own charm and uniqueness.
We rented a car so that we could move about easily. On normal days, we usually prepare our own breakfast. To take full advantage of the rented car (since it came with unlimited mileage), we ate out that day. [Read more…]
This is my first trip to Brisbane.
My wife has got a job assignment and she has to go to Brisbane for a month. Since it coincided with school holidays and I can work from anywhere, we decided to tag along.
We decided to travel locally during the recent school holidays. Instead of flying, we chose driving. And we chose the less explored and less popular places.
With some research notes and a GPS, we embarked on a road trip to East Coast of Malaysia last June – with my wife, in-laws, and two children tagging along.
Since my parents-in-law were with us, we drove to Penang to pick them up. We started our road trip on June 1 in Penang. Then to Kelantan via East West Highway (from Butterworth Kulim Expressway) to Kuala Terengganu (via coastal road) then unto Kuantan. The final destination is of course our home – on June 6.
