Simple Advice for the Quarrelsome Twosome

February 8, 2007 By PW Editorial Team

Constant quarrelling in a marriage is exhausting, not just for husband and wife but for the children, extended family and even the neighbors who are forced to listen to it!  Surely life would be more enjoyable if you could both agree to try and tone down the arguments and pay attention to what one another needs.

There are many things couples argue about.  Top of the list for most couples is money; there’s not enough, one person is earning more than the other, one person is spending more than the other, someone is thrifty, someone is a spender and so it goes on.

Our children exposed to harmful chemicals?

February 8, 2007 By PW Editorial Team

I recently come across articles and books talking about harmful-chemicals (cancer-causing chemicals) in our daily used products, including baby shampoo, toothpaste, etc.

The reports highlighted some brands that are widely available in the market today.

Is it true that these manufacturers are only thinking of profits, therefore using the cheaper alternatives as the ingredients, without considering much about its harmfulness?

What is more concerning is that currently there is no law that can prevent them from doing this, because the side-effect does not show immediately, but rather after accumulating for years.

I change my son’s shampoo and body shampoo immediately, because as a parent, I definitely do not want him to be exposed to all these unnecessary risk (that potentially can cause greater harm in the years to come).

Is this an issue to be concerned of, or am I just over-reacting?

Is my daughter lying to me?

February 6, 2007 By PW Editorial Team

My 4-year old daughter told me that she was caned by her babysitter for indiscipline last night. Of course, as a parent, I was worried about what she told me.

In order to make sure that my daughter said the right thing, I "queried" my babysitter about my daughter’s behavior this morning.

Everything my daughter told me was true except one thing: the caning. My babysitter admitted that she beat her but not with cane. Just mildly beat with her bare hands.

Now, which one is telling the truth? It’s kind of hard to tell. I am not saying my daughter is lying. But sometimes, what our child tells us might not be the true picture. It’s not intentional, perhaps. They are just mixing up things or forget to tell you the whole thing.

At the end, I still have faith in my daughter that she’s going to learn to communicate without any "missing" point one day. And I also hope that my daughter is not telling lies intentionally last night.

I Love You… ‘Til Divorce Do Us Part

February 6, 2007 By PW Editorial Team

Marriages are not fail-proof things.  Divorce is becoming increasingly common all over the world, perhaps because they are so easy to arrange, or because we now seem to live in a disposable society.  If something doesn’t work anymore, throw it out and get a new one.  If you are asked by your spouse for a divorce, there are some things you should consider and things you should do.
