Weekend mothers...

I have met some friends who only attend to their children on weekends. During weekday, the children are with babysitters. When I probed further, "It's tiring when you are home from work and I don't have the energy to take care of my child." I am a working mom myself but I don't want to do that. I feel guilty if I don't take my children back from my nanny's house after work. The other reason is I want to foster a closer bond with my kids. I don't want to end up my babysitter is closer to my children than me. Who wants that anyway? With modern technology that makes our lives easier, parents nowadays still can't beat the last generation parents - who could raise 4-5 children - without any help single handedly. No doubt, they were full time parents but don't forget they had more children than us. Oftentimes, I wonder whether it is the work that makes them become "weekend parents". Or it's a lame excuse for them to skip the responsibility of being a full time parent?
