Cutest Baby Photo Contest: Should You Enter or Should You Not?

To be honest, I am not a big fan of baby photo contests or any other contests for that matter.

But a recent event changed my perception. Thank to my dearest wife. This is what happened.

When my wife asked me whether “we” should enter a cutest baby contest organized by her employer, without a doubt, I only gave her a lukewarm response.

Why? For some reason, I stay away from any contests. I hardly participate in any except once the Reader’s Digest’s “Win-a-Car” contest many years back. Remember the paper car key that really looked like the real one? Even that I stopped half way as it required too much effort on my part. I just don’t get the kick out of contests.

Anyway, my wife went ahead by choosing two photos (one was of my daughter J, another was of my son, K) for the contest… without my knowledge. I only found out about it when she asked me for a tagline for each photo because I am more creative in this field (*ahem*). I was thinking since she already chose the pictures, might as well we went ahead with the contest and had fun.

The judges would choose 3 winners based on:

•    Cuteness of the Baby/Child
•    Most Natural Candid Moment

I must say that my wife did a fantastic job with the selection (she told me that another friend helped her with the selection after reading this post), especially K’s photo. The more you look at it, the more your feelings get mixed up. And you’re not sure if you should laugh or otherwise.

Don’t get what I am trying to say? Don’t worry, I will let you see the picture in a moment and you’ll get what I mean.

But first, let me tell you the results. Just out two days ago…and the winner goes to...drum roll please...

K is the champion for the baby category!

It was REALLY a pleasant surprise for someone who never believes in contests.

To win a contest like this, you have to make the right selection of photos. My wife did just that. Excellent job!

I am damn proud of my wife and K. Not to blow our own horn, here’s insider news. The organizing team told my wife that all judges unanimously picked my son’s photo as the overall first prize winner. No questions about it.

Now as promised, here’s the photo of the winner of baby category (taken with my wife’s mobile phone in his second visit to a barber. In fact, we didn't expect K to be like that! We thought things would have turned out fine):

cutest baby photo contest winner!

What do you think? Deserve the prize?

The more I look at it, the more I feel bad about it because we took advantage of K’s extreme sad moment and made fun of it. But then again, you just can’t help but laugh when you see his expressions on his face. That’s what I meant by mixed feelings.

Now back to my first question: Should you take part in a cutest baby photo contest? Hell yes! (look who’s talking!) If you agree with me, then get ready with your camera wherever you go and snap as many candid moments as possible. You’ll never know when these pictures come in handy for any upcoming contests.

Good luck with your contests ;-)

LOL! He does pull at my heart strings!

Poor thing must have been in terror! The same thing happened to my girl when i took her for her hair cut and only scissors were used! she screamed like her head was being cut off!!!

But i love baby contests! I would keep any thing that said she was the winner in a safe place and show her when she was older (saving for a moment when she was really feeling down) then pop it up and tell her, " See i'm not a bias mom you really are a winner in _ & _ Contest!") I think it would be a great way to lift up a say... the spirit of a heart broken teen who was dumped by other teen! Hope you get what i mean!

Anyway, Congrats to K, your mrs and of course your self la!

That is really one cute photo... Bless his heart for being such in horror experience!!! We were having the same experience sending our dear son to the haircut... He cried really hard until the barber gave up and our son ended up having only one side of his hair being cut!!! It has been 6 months ago and he"s really need a haircut now!
