Vaccine can help reduce frequent ear infections in children

A vaccine has been shown to help reduce the number of infants and toddlers developing frequent ear infections, according to new research from Katherine A. Poehling, M.D., a pediatrician at Brenner Children’s Hospital, part of Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. Results from her study are published in the April issue of Pediatrics.

"This is exciting news for parents whose children suffer from frequent and painful ear infections," she said.

Event to promote awareness on child abuse

Interested persons are invited to participate in a stroller walk to promote awareness on preventing child abuse April 11 from 10 a.m.-noon at Patriot Park on Redwine Road in Fayetteville.

Moms, dads, grandparents and other caregivers are invited to bring their little ones out for a stroll around the park. Parenting tips, child safety, and how to identify and report child abuse will be shared.

Wynonna Judd files for divorce

Country music singer Wynonna Judd filed for divorce after her husband was arrested on what police said were sexual battery charges involving a child under 13.

Nashville police spokesman Don Aaron said Judd's estranged husband, Dan R Roach, was arrested in Abilene, Texas, as a fugitive after his indictment by a Nashville grand jury last week.
