Working to your strengths is enormously satisfying and a great energiser. Most adults who are free to follow this approach love it. Sadly, children are subject to a one size fits all education which comes with a fixed curriculum and set targets for achievement. Not only the children, but also the teachers are assessed by the outcomes. That is the nature of large, government funded and driven systems.

However, most individual teachers are in education because they thrive on seeing children blossom and reach their potential. The political message may be that anyone can do anything if they put their mind to it, but class teachers are more realistic.

Encourage your child to discover and work to their strengths and they will find learning a more joyful experience. - Jeni Hooper
