It's great to see this master of the blogging world talking about something other than blogging! :) Thanks for the interview!

Great Interview. I am a busy dad (work, grad school, blogging) and often struggle with the work/family balance. I agree with Darren that you have to set a schedule.

I have set aside several hours after work each day to play with our 20 month old. We eat dinner together, go outside, etc. When 8 PM rolls around I head into the home office for home work and blogging.

These are some great questions, Abel - and some lovely gentle, balanced answers from Darren.

I particularly like #3. What a great idea, to take your son or your family out for a walk. I often do that with Annabeth. We will get out for a walk, go to the shops, or the library, or the park (usually and the park). It means attention can be focused exclusively on the child - it's real together time.

Good on you - and thanks. - Rory

Very nice interview. I too find these struggles between family and work as I work from home. I'm still working on the boundaries thing. But with all things that are a challenge you simply have to think about the best process and find ways to stick to that as best possible.

Best of luck to both of you, Abel and Darren. - K Stone
