\"Yearly there are around 800,000 child abductions in the United States.\"

Seems awfully high. Where are you getting that figure from? - David

What a great site! You have some very valuable information that parents can use to keep their kids safe. One thought on item 37, outlet plugs.

Nice site and a lot of good information. One thought on item 37, outlet plugs.

A study of 37 children conducted in 1997 by the Biokinetics Research
Laboratry of Temple University had the following findings:

47 percent of 4 year olds and 31 percent of 2 year olds could remove
protectors with a round, flat face and two prongs.

47 persent of 4 year olds and 18 percent of 2 year olds could remove
protectors with a 3/16 inch thick oval face and a tapered side

100 percent of 2 and 4 year olds could remove protectors with a 1/16 inch thick oval face and a flat side.

Consumer Reports also found at least one type of plug a potential choke
hazard because it fit inside a test cylinder meant to measure
whether an object can get caught in a child\'s throat.

At Safe Zone LLC, we recommend Child Tamper Resistent Outlets such as Mommy\'s Helper or Kidco but even then you have to be careful. Consumer Reports found that Safety First\'s Swivel Outlet Cover posed an electrocution hazard because the cover doesn\'t close off all the holes.

EXCELLENT article. Thank you. Child Safety is so very important and contrary to popular belief it actually does not come easy to many parents. We all need to be reminded of the everyday things we need to do to keep all kids safe.
On behalf of the Imaginif team...well done. - Imaginif...Child Protection Be
